Clay dessert

Clay Brownies
For this project we were asked to make food out of clay. My table was given desserts. I chose brownies because I wanted to use different colors. Also because they are my favorite thing to bake at home. I was familiar with using clay because I was introduced to it in elementary school and in all art classes I've ever taken there has always been a project that has to do with using clay. I was afraid of the brownies exploding in the kiln. I've had bad luck of my clay artwork always being messed up in there in the past. This is the first time its never broken that much. I enjoyed working on it because there was more tools to make the clay look better. I did mess up a little bit with the painting because the paint on the M&M's fell onto the brown on the top and it got a little messed up.

Candy Drawings

Candy Drawings
The mediums used in these drawings are chalk, colored pencils, and oil pastels. The first drawing I did was the peppermint. The medium I used is chalk. Honestly,I didn't like using the chalk. It was too messy and the shading doesn't come out that well. The only think I like about it was that it doesn't take long to finish the artwork. The second one I did was the lollipop. I used colored pencils to add color. The ones I used are blending colored pencils. This medium has been my favorite out of the three. I like this one because its the easiest to use and easier for shading. Also theres more colors to chose from. The last drawing I did was the jolly rancher. For this one I used oil pastels. I did like using these because they were a little easier to use than the chalk.

Peacock

For this project I used technology. I did this by looking up different peacock feathers to decide what colors would be best to use in blending the colored pencils. Once I got an idea of the colors I tested the blending on a different paper from my sketchbook so I could get them close to how they are in person since there's different shades of green and blue. I also practiced drawing and coloring the feathers to see how I wanted them to turn out. I guess tthis drawing says something about how I am because I love peacocks. They have so many pretty colors all over them and their feathers make a beautiful pattern. That's the main reason I chose to draw the peacock because I knew that it'd turn out well since the feathers would involved different shades of greens and blues and the colored pencils I used are meant for blending. Another thing, I chose to use colored pencils instead of chalk or oil pastels because I thought it'd be less messy and I wanted the feathers to look more neat since that's how they look in person.

Artist painting

Artist Project
The painting at the top is my original artwork. The bottom two are Emil Nolde's pieces. I used them as inspiration for coming up with my own original idea. I decided to paint a sun setting on a beach with the palm tree and island standing out a little. This artwork shows who I am because I love the beach and I think, along with sunsets, they are really beautiful. I also thought that the sunset would be a good choice since it takes a bunch of colors blended together to create the right color. I had never used acrylic paint before this project. It was always watercolors so I liked learning blending techniques and the different types of colors on the color wheel. I changed the idea I was going to do first to this. My plan was to paint skills with designs on them and add vibrant colors to them but I changed my mind when I was about to finish sketching it. The main reason was because I knew I didn't have enough time to complete it so I thought of something that would be less time consuming and I'm glad I did because I got a lot of compliments on it and I agree that it turned out really pretty.

Perspective project

Perspective Drawing
Looking at my artwork I think it turned out very well. I analyzed it as I worked. When i worked on getting the lines to be in perspective i would try to imagine how the final product would turn out. I did have the rough draft of it as i copied it onto the bigger paper but my sketchbook is way smaller than the size of the paper I chose for the final so I had to use proportion in getting the buildings to fit on the bigger paper. I did manage to get them all on there exactly how I wanted. I am very content in how it all came out. Although I did have a bit of an obstacle towards the end as I was in the middle of coloring. I was gonna have a full road in the artwork but as I was almost done filling in the black part of the road since I had the paper pinned up on the wall so I could have a large flat surface, I accidentally ripped one side of the paper so I had to figure out how I would continue without having to completely start over. Eventually, I decided to cut of half of the road on both sides. I'm not sure if I mind that much since it really doesn't look like it would make a difference since the buildings are supposed to be the main attraction. At the beginning when we first started perspective I had a bit of trouble with the two point perspective. I still had trouble after the teacher explained the concept to me so luckily my classmate saw this and was nice enough to help me. After showing me a few sketches using this technique I tried it on my own and soon got the hang of it.
