art two final exam

.)  I think my most successful project is the mixed media project. The theme of the project was a mysterious galaxy. The first thing I did was add gesco to the paper to make it thicker and stronger. Then to add texture I used a gel to glue white tissue paper all over the paper for the first layer. The second layer was pink tissue paper in a few areas and light purple tissue paper for the third layer. The main layer is full of different colors of acrylic paint. Towards the end of the project I decided to add a womans face on the painting. I thought it'd add a little mystery and I think it brings the whole painting together. I think that adding the wrinkled tissue paper was beneficial to the project because it added texture and gave the paint a cool effect. I also think that the art piece looks better vertical instead of if I had chosen to make it a landscape painting. The galaxy part involved a lot of blending of color paints. I definitely believe it made a difference in the final product because it looked more like a galaxy since the colors all came together as one and they mixed perfectly. Out of all my project I think this one looks the best and I had the most fun working on this one.

.)  I think my least successful project is the clay dessert. I think this because the brownies don't look realistic and they don't look as neat as I wanted. Also, I don't think the brown color was the color I had envisioned. I know that sometimes when you bake brownies they don't come out perfectly shaped or at least they don't for me but I wanted them to look a bit more evenly cut out and shaped the same as the other one. I also don't like how the M&M's came out. The paint did run onto the brown part. If I were to do this again I would try to make the brownies look more of the same size and the same color. I would use a darker color on the top part as the fudge and a lighter color on the bottom half. I forgot to add the M on the M&M's with white paint so i'd go make sure to add that to some of them. The main thing I would focus on is making sure they look realistic because I think that was the thing that was missing most is for it to look like an actual brownie.

.)  The older project was the first one I ever did in art two. Its the perspective project. I chose to do a few buildings on a corner of the street showing two point perspective. In the more recent project I drew a close up drawing of a peacocks feathers. I used colored pencils in each drawing but for the peacocks feathers I used colored pencils made for blending and for the buildings I used regular colored pencils. Personally, I think the blending colored pencils work better. For the perspective project I had to rush to complete it so the coloring doesn't look as well as I wanted. It looks too light and makes the buildings not look that realistic. I had more time to finish the close up project so i had more time to focus on the coloring of the feathers. I did mess up in a few places but I think I got the colors right when i blended the blues and greens together. I think for the perspective project I wasn't creative enough when it came to the theme. I'm not a creative person in general so it was hard to come up with an idea. Plus I was already behind so I picked something simple. I think peacock feathers are a little more creative. I had chose this because I wanted something that would be colorful since I already knew I wanted to use colored pencils.

.)  Before starting the artist painting we had two mini lessons. The first one was a color wheel shaped as anything. I chose to draw a sun and use the triangles and half of the sun for each color. This included all primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. The second mini lesson was to paint part of Van Gogh's "Starry Night".  I think that the instruction given was enough to guarantee success because the color wheel shows all the colors and mixed colors and it gave us a chance to mix different colors to make a new one that we may need. Painting part of the "Starry Night" gave us practice for the main project. I enjoyed painting it and I think it was a good idea to do that small lesson first because it also showed us how to divide the paper in sections to perfect proportion since the paper of my section of the painting was way smaller than the bigger white paper. I think my final project came out as good as it did because of these mini lessons.

.)   My favorite medium to work had to be paint. I had never used acrylic paint before and I really enjoyed using it. I had also never painted on a canvas either and now I would consider it a hobby because I have been coming up with my own projects at home. My favorite part about paint is when you mix different colors to create a new one. I enjoyed painting so much that I made sure to include it in my mixed media project. For the artist painting we did I chose to paint a palm tree at the beach during a sunset. I really like how it turned out. I liked the choice of colors I included. Since it was a sunset I had to make sure there was pinks and oranges with a little bit of red and since there was a palm tree and a small island I made them dark. I'm glad I was introduced to this paint because if not I would've never realized how much I love to paint. I plan to paint more even if its just for fun.
